Wild Cards book series

Hello (damn its been a while since I posted in Livejournal)… but I just HAD to share something and I figured this community (if anybody still reads this) would appreciate it. This is about the George R.R. Martin “Wild Cards” series. It’s a sci-fi series about an alien virus that’s loose on Earth that kills most of the people it comes in contact with (They dealt the Black Queen), 9 out of 10 people it disfigures (Jokers) and 1 out of 10 it gives superpowers (Aces). Really cool. Check out the Wikipedia entry if interested in learning more: Before I started reading it I wasn’t sure whether I was going to be into them since I didn’t think I’d be into the whole Mosaic novel format but I have to say I’m loving the shit outta this series.

Anyway, I’m currently reading book six “Aces in the Hole” of the series and I have to say… I almost started crying when Doughboy helped Sara Morgersten out that precarious situation she found herself in amongst the jokers, thanks to her little outburst about Puppetman earlier in the book. When he started talking about how nobody brings him candy anymore since Mr Shiner died and how he misses him, and the image of him walking around Jokertown with his body in his arms asking people to help Mr. Thiner as he calls him cuz of his accent. URGH that shit killed me!!! I almost started bawling like a little girl

Anybody else has read or is reading this series?
